1590994389 REALITY IMAGES: ON THE WALL PAINTING WILLIAM KENTRIDGE'S “TRIUMPHS AND LAMENTS”

As a Palimpsest artist, William Kentridge has been actively involved in international art environments with his critical works, which have been active for many years, against the Colonial and Apartheid administrations in South Africa, from the 1970s until today. The artist is one of the important art projects that he has positioned himself, acting in this field and realized in recent years; It is a mural project called “Victories and Laments”, starting with the historical signs of ancient Rome, with the images formed by the Roman history until the 20th century social and political indicators. Kentridge, mainly benefited from the fragments in the fiction of the mural in question. Each trailer has carried out an extraordinary work in the public medium, in its original form of painting, focusing separately on the triumphs, heroic stories, painlessness, defeats, myths (legend) and visual memory of the Rome, which is an important part of world history. In this article, in Kentridge's work, it is revealed by using visual analyzes of the images he deals with, as well as what kind of mental process the artist focuses on thinking and practice, as well as being chosen as a form of knowledge.
