1760301732 THE TRANSFER OF GEOMETRIC ORNAMENTS SEEN IN WOODEN MINBARS FROM THE ANATOLIAN SELJUK PERIOD TO CLOTHING DESIGNS

The decorative arts of the Anatolian Seljuk period emerged from a synthesis of diverse cultural influences. During this era, ornamentation was applied to various media—including stone, tile, textiles, metal, and wood—manifesting in geometric, floral, figurative, and calligraphic forms. Among these, geometric ornamentation occupies a paramount position within Turkish-Islamic art. This research aims to analyze the geometric patterns found on Anatolian Seljuk wooden minbars (pulpits) and to adapt these motifs into contemporary women's outerwear. Adopting a qualitative research approach, the study first established a conceptual framework through an extensive literature review. Subsequently, vector pattern designs were generated using Adobe Illustrator software based on the geometric motifs identified on the wooden minbars. Finally, these digitized patterns were integrated into a women's outerwear collection designed for the spring-summer season.
