In this study, in-between spaces (liminal spaces) that exist with the perception of transit and functionality—such as streets, avenues, squares, and waiting areas—have been conceptually examined through the definition of non-place (non-lieu), which has emerged under the influence of the disrupted sense of time in our current century. These areas, which possess the potential to transform into spaces of experience and offer artists fields of free expression, harbor unexpected possibilities and encounters. In this context, the study brings together selected examples of art installations, both temporary and permanent, placed within in-between spaces that necessitate transit and waiting. It is concluded that artworks situated in these liminal spaces, which evaluate the potential of the threshold, can enable the individual to experience a meaningful moment of waiting or transition.
