1542916768 SEMIOTICAL ASSESSMENT OF TEXTILE MATERIAL IN ARCHITECTURAL ELEMENTS ON DO HO SUH WORKS

One of the trends which currently attract attention is that different disciplines are gathered together in art branches. Combination of a dynamic of any arts with those of different artistic disciplines enables progressive, different and changeable works to appear and thus strengthens creativeness of artists on their way to authenticity. It is obvious that different disciplines’ sharing their material and techniques among them provides supportive opportunities for art and leads young candidate artists as well.
Flexibility, softness and permeability of textile material have been observed to meet architectural concept of space on art works in the crossroad of architecture and textile arts. In a different approach to space concept, Do Ho Suh chooses textile as material in his works whereby he questions themes of nomadic life, belonging, accommodation and home. As an interrogation method on such concepts, he chooses architecture itself. This paper has determined semantically assessment of works created with textile material by Do Ho Suh's designing mentality using semiotics as a target.
