1578311924 EXAMINING FLUTE STUDENTS’ LUNG CAPACITY AND THEIR FLUTE PLAYING SKILLS

This research purposes that, in Gazi University, Faculty of Education department of Music Education’s undergraduate 1, 2, 3, 4 flute students’ lung capacities impressions on playing flute revals. In the research, students’ physical and personal information (gender, age, height, weight, smoking, daily flute exercise hours, daily flute listening hours) are asked primarly. And then, the test of respiration function are applied by an expert. A piece which exposes breath techniques is chosen for the same students by the expert people. Each student which is applied the test of respiration function also played the piece and video recorded. These videos are watched and evaluated in five categories (breath control, breath points, tone quality, musicality, technic) by three competent persons. Obtained datas analysed with correlation process by SPSS 19.0 programme. According to the research, between evaluating by the observers and breath control, breath points, tone quality, musicality, technic datas, lung capacities do not have a relationship. Observer evaluations revealed that, in between breath control and musicality, when the students’ experience increase, their achievements are increasing.
