Leopardi, born in Recanati, a small town in Italy, nine years later than French Revolution is one of the poets that lives comings and goings between Classicism and Romanticism of Italian literature. In this study, starting from his life, we will be observing the phases of his literary formation and we will be giving point to the fact that how the classic part of the poet stands against Romanticism that influences the period. At the same time, in an alone and closed life that the poet carries on far away from everything in a small town, the place of his dream world and the phases of pessimism that he builds up will be underlined. Accordingly as we talk about the most important poems written by the poet, the main feelings reflected in these poems will create the basic parts of this research.
