1589793501 POTS USED IN ARDAHAN SULAKYURT VILLAGE BETWEEN 1890 AND 1980

In the preliminary fieldwork in Ardahan Sulakyurt Village in 2016, vats of various sizes were found in the gardens and warehouses of some houses. For the examination of numerous examples, a project was supported by Ardahan University Scientific Research Coordination Department. The project studies started in December 2018 and was completed in 12 months. In the preliminary fieldwork, it has been learned that most of the village residents consisted of the immigrants who came in 1828-29 or during the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-78. For this reason, the dates examined were limited to the years 1890-1980. In the interviews with the residents of the village to get information about the vats, it was found that the existing samples were brought from the village of Şavşat-Küplüce and sold in the village until the 1980s. In 2018, a field study related to Küplüce pottery was made and it was determined that pottery production was completed in the village in 1980-90. It was seen that the date range selected in the study coincided with the period when the Küplüce pottery center was active. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the properties and traditional usage areas of terracotta materials used in the mentioned periods in the village of Sulakyurt.
